The Cabildo of Lanzarote has approved the final resolution of the call for subsidies to cover the operating expenses of agricultural holdings corresponding to the year 2025, with a total amount of 249,200 euros.

These grants, framed within Line 1 of the subsidies for the agricultural sector, will support the activity of 122 beneficiaries, including professional and amateur farmers, who have met the requirements established in the regulatory bases. The maximum amount per beneficiary is 3,500 euros for professional farmers and 1,050 euros for amateur farmers, covering up to 70% of the cost of the subsidized activity.

The President and Councillor for Agriculture of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted that "this line of aid is a fundamental tool to alleviate the economic burden of the island's farmers, who often make great efforts to maintain their activity."

"From the Cabildo we continue to promote measures that contribute to the economic and social sustainability of the Lanzarote countryside, supporting both small farms and professionals who are committed to generational change and local production," added Betancort.

Betancort recalled that Lanzarote's traditional agriculture, based on the efficient management of water and the conservation of volcanic soil, "is part of the territory's identity and its international recognition as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS) by the FAO, so each farm that is still active contributes to preserving a unique agricultural landscape that defines the personality of our island," he added.

The Department of Agriculture reminds beneficiaries that, in order to proceed with the payment of subsidies, they must justify the aid in accordance with the provisions of the regulatory bases of the call for proposals, within the period set between January 1 and March 31, 2026, or earlier if the subsidized activity has ended. The final resolution of the call for proposals can be consulted on the electronic notice board of the Island Corporation, www.cabildodelanzarote.com.
