The Cabildo of Lanzarote and Aena will work hand in hand so that the drafting of the remodeling project of the terminal area of the César Manrique-Lanzarote Airport is adapted to the island's environment and the surrounding landscape, with the commitment that the tender for the technical assistance of the drafting of the project and for the technical assistance of architecture, tendered last July by Aena, includes the need to have such a defined proposal.
Oswaldo Betancort, the CEO of the Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society, SPEL, Héctor Fernández; and the president of the Lanzarote Chamber of Commerce, José Valle, held a meeting last Thursday at Aena's headquarters in Madrid with the General Director of Airports, Elena Mayoral; the Director of the Office of the Presidency, Strategy and Public Policies, Ángel Sanz; and the Director of Airport Planning and Regulatory Control, Sonia Corrochano.
“We have reached two fundamental collaboration agreements for Lanzarote: that the project to remodel the airport terminal area respects the spirit of César Manrique's work and, on the other hand, coordination with Aena for the integration, inside the airport, of a new access through the southern entrance of the island”, Betancort highlighted.
Aena tendered last July, for an amount of "4.6 million euros", the technical assistance for the project to remodel the airport terminal area, actions that will mean a "significant improvement in the passenger experience" thanks to the "functional optimization" of all operational processes, the "increase in surfaces and the introduction of new technologies."
