César Manrique Airport accumulated 6,246 minutes of delays on its different flights this Thursday and was, once again, the European airport with the biggest delays on the continent.

More than 107 hours in a day that sources in the sector believe could be "the worst in delays" in the recent history of the island's airport.

The USCA controllers' union attributes the delays to the strike by workers at the control tower, managed by the company Saerco.

Saerco sources believe that in addition to the strike, "there must be another reason added" and hopes that Aena will investigate it.

The air traffic controllers' strike is now a year old. Saerco workers are demanding an improvement in their working and salary conditions.

SAERCO manages five of the eight control towers in the archipelago, with the exception of those in Tenerife North and South and Gran Canaria airport.
