New impetus to the maritime line with Tarfaya, considered "strategic" by Fernando Clavijo

A Moroccan delegation will visit Gran Canaria, Tenerife and Fuerteventura to meet with the Canarian Executive and other actors involved

The Government of the Canary Islands continues with the work for the reopening of the maritime line between the islands and Tarfaya with a joint work agenda with the Moroccan delegation that will travel to the archipelago this Wednesday, January 10.

In addition, on Thursday, January 11, the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, will hold a working meeting with the Moroccan delegation, headed by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Transport and Logistics, Khalid Cherkaoui, in which the Minister of Public Works, Housing and Mobility, Pablo Rodríguez, will also participate. 

This meeting, in which the lines of work initiated last year to restore the maritime connection between the Canary Islands and Tarfaya, which the Government of the Canary Islands has described as "strategic" to strengthen economic, commercial and cultural ties between the archipelago and the Moroccan country, will also be attended by the president of the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, Lola García, the Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco in the Canary Islands, Fatiha El Kamouri, as well as a business delegation.

The director of the Moroccan Merchant Marine, El Najib Karkouri, the head of the Maritime Transport division, Anes El Oulalia, the director of regulation of Activities and Operations of the National Ports Agency of Morocco, Mustapha Lhamouz, the commander of the Port of Laâyoune, El-Mostafa Moukka, and the maritime captain of the province of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, José Antonio Conde, will also participate in the meeting.

The work agenda will begin on Thursday first thing in the morning with a visit to the Port of La Luz y Las Palmas where the delegation will be received by the president of the Port Authority, Beatriz Calzada. Afterwards, they will visit the port area and the facilities of Hamilton y Cia.

Afterwards, the delegation will move to Tenerife where they will hold a meeting with the President of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, and then move that same afternoon to Fuerteventura where on Friday they will visit the port facilities of Puerto del Rosario and hold a working meeting with the Cabildo of Fuerteventura, the Chamber of Commerce and other public and private actors involved.
