The Cabildo of Lanzarote, in view of the strike notice presented by the Federation of Services to the Citizenry of CCOO Canarias, which affects the regular intercity public transport service of passengers in the province, has issued a Resolution that establishes the minimum essential services to guarantee the mobility of the population on the 15th and 16th of September.
The Institution, through the Area of Transport and Mobility, sets the minimum services at 70% of the total programmed expeditions "to regulate the strike situation that affects the workers of the company Arrecife Bus SL. The strike will take place on the 15th and 16th of September 2025, and will continue later with intermittent stoppages in the time slots from 06:00 to 10:00 hours, and from 17:00 to 21:00 hours, until the resolution of the conflict, affecting the personnel of the aforementioned company", the Resolution states.
It is considered that "the setting of minimum services at the indicated percentage respects the adequate constitutional balance between the rights in conflict".
During the strike, essential services will remain operational, including priority routes that connect key points of the island such as hospitals, transport stations and educational centers. An adapted frequency is also guaranteed during peak hours, ensuring the availability of the service at the most critical times; as well as attention to vulnerable groups such as people with reduced mobility, who will be able to access transport in safe conditions.
The objective of the proposal made by the Island Institution is to minimize the impact on citizens, especially those who depend on public transport for essential activities.
The Cabildo of Lanzarote works closely with the transport company to ensure compliance with the minimum services. It also appeals to the understanding and patience of the population in the face of possible inconveniences that the strike may cause.
