The Government of the Canary Islands, through its Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, will allocate 400,000 euros in aid to the artisanal fishing sector of the archipelago, with the aim of contributing to improving the equipment of the fishermen's associations, their federations and sea cooperatives.
The purpose of these subsidies published in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands (BOC) is to "support fishing associations to cover part of the expenses generated by the services they provide to fishermen in the archipelago, allowing greater guarantees in the daily development of their activity".
These subsidies dedicated to strengthening the artisanal fishing sector will help to improve the basic functioning of associative entities to offer a better service to fishermen, which will benefit the consumer.
The aid will be used for the adaptation of first sale facilities, office and computer equipment and office supplies; the elements of transport of fishery products; industrial machinery; and the improvement of the social equipment of the entities.
