During the month of August, twelve companies have closed in Lanzarote, bringing the total on the island to 5,001 businesses at present.

While San Bartolomé, Teguise, and Tinajo increased their number of companies, the other four municipalities on the island have experienced several losses.

San Bartolomé added eleven companies in August, reaching 471 businesses, Teguise added four, reaching 734 companies, and Tinajo added two more companies, increasing their figures to 141 businesses.

In contrast, Arrecife was the municipality where the most companies were lost in August, specifically 15 businesses, leaving the capital's total at 1,875 businesses.

Next is Tías, where nine companies closed, bringing the total for the municipality, which includes Puerto del Carmen, to 1,073 businesses.

Almost all the islands lost companies

Haría and Yaiza recorded three and one fewer companies respectively in August. Thus, the northern municipality currently has 107 companies, while there are 657 businesses in the south.

The closure of companies in the month of August is not a phenomenon exclusive to Lanzarote, but has been recorded throughout the archipelago with the exception of La Gomera, where three new companies opened.

Gran Canaria and Tenerife lost 35 companies each during the past month, while in Fuerteventura, 16 businesses closed.
