The vice president of the Canary Islands Government and Minister of Economy, Manuel Domínguez, has confirmed this Tuesday that the Government will benefit new self-employed workers with the zero quota during the first quarter of 2024 and retroactively to January 1 of last year.
Domínguez made this clarification in the plenary session of the Canary Islands Parliament in response to questions from the socialist deputy Tamara Raya about the number of self-employed workers who have benefited from the zero quota promised by the regional executive.
The minister has indicated that the forecast is that between January 1 and December 31, 2023, 3,500 new self-employed workers will register and benefit from this bonus when the regulatory bases are approved, since there is already an allocation of 2.5 million euros.
Tamara Raya has rescued information in which Domínguez announced that the new self-employed would benefit from the zero quota at the beginning of the year and specifically from January 1, 2024.
The Minister of Economy and Vice President of the Canary Islands has boasted of having dedicated "time and effort" to finding credits to apply the zero quota in 2023, but in the budgets in force last year, the last of the Flowers pact, "I did not find a euro".
Regarding the headlines in the press wielded by the socialist deputy, he clarified that what he said then is that the zero quota would be applied in the first quarter of this year and retroactively.
