Cement sales continue to rise in Lanzarote

In the first quarter of 2021, 19,487.4 tons were sold on the island, 28% more than the previous year. In March, the increase soared to 63%.

Cement sales continue to rise in Lanzarote, where in the first quarter of this year 19,487.4 tons were sold, 28% more than the previous year, according to figures released by the Cabildo Data Center.

It should be remembered that, despite the pandemic, 2020 marked a record year in cement sales on the island, with an increase of 11% compared to 2019. The first four months of last year saw declines, but these were offset by the increases that occurred from May onwards, with year-on-year increases of more than 60% in several months.

Regarding this year 2021, in January 5,129.2 tons of cement were sold in Lanzarote. This figure represented a decrease of 15% compared to December, but an interannual increase of 3%. For its part, in February 5,767.4 tons were sold, 16% more than the same month last year; and in March the year-on-year growth soared to 63%, with 8,590.8 tons sold.

In the Canary Islands as a whole, 55,653 tons of cement were sold in the first quarter of this year, 16% more than in the same period of 2020.
