Proexca, through its Invest in the Canary Islands area, has carried out a reverse mission on the islands of a delegation of representatives from various technological incubators in Mauritania, in collaboration with the Mauritania - Spain Business Council CAMES, for a week in which these companies have been able to receive personalized mentoring to boost their businesses.

From April 21 to 25, the participating entities have been accompanied by María Victoria Cairós, an expert in the field of mentoring and promoting innovative entrepreneurship. The training has been highly practical and has worked with real success stories, with innovation centers and accelerators in the Canary Islands, being able to analyze their strategies, operating models and the factors that have helped them achieve success.

The Mauritanian companies have been able to visit and receive presentations from NANOTec, the Tenerife Science and Technology Park, the Technological Excellence Cluster of the Canary Islands, the Science and Technology Park of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria ULPGC, the EMERGE foundation, Mentor Day, the spin-off Formaché, the Canary Islands Agency for Research, Innovation and Information Society Aciisi, Sodecan, Archipiélago Next and the Chamber of Commerce of Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The participants were divided into working groups to carry out an activity focused on Mauritania. Each group evaluated the characteristics of the Mauritanian entrepreneurial ecosystem and, using the tools and methodologies presented, designed specific proposals for the implementation of an accelerator in this context.

The objective is that the participants not only understand how accelerators work, but also develop practical skills to adapt them to their local environment, generating concrete and strategic ideas to strengthen entrepreneurship in Mauritania.

Business relations between the Canary Islands and Mauritania are strengthened through these actions that promote intercontinental relations and seek to expand opportunities for both local companies and institutions and those in Mauritania.

According to the IMF, Mauritania's economic growth is expected to remain favorable in the medium term, with a projection of 4.2% for 2025, supported by the start-up of the gas project.
