The 17 wineries that will participate next weekend in the XII Lanzarote Wine Run are finalizing preparations to surprise the nearly 2,000 registered participants who will take part in the initiative organized through the protected area of La Geria this weekend.

La Geria, El Grifo, Bermejo, Rubicón, Guiguan, Cohombrillo 4/24, Vega de Yuco, Martinón, Entre Latidos, Salinas de Janubio, Vulcano, La Florida, Lágrima de Malvasía, Titerok-Akaet, Tisalaya, Erupción, and Tierra de Volcanes are the participating Lanzarote wineries.

The popular Wine Run extends its program during Saturday, June 15, and Sunday, June 16, and its main organizers are the Cabildo of Lanzarote, presided over by Oswaldo Betancort, the Regulatory Council of the DOP Vinos de Lanzarote, and the Yaiza City Council.

Under the slogan "Discover, Enjoy, Respect" and with the registration period now closed, the event will take place on Sunday in three different modalities. On one hand, there is the 23-kilometer race (long race, which starts from Bodega La Florida). There is also a short 13-kilometer race (starts from Finca Testeina). And finally, the category for those participants - the majority - who prefer to do the route as a walk (trekking), of 13 kilometers.

Participation includes a wide variety of items and some surprises. All registrations entitle you to the official T-shirt of the edition (with a spectacular landscape printed on it), as well as medals for those who finish the route.

It also includes tickets for the Wine Festival; transportation by bus from Uga to the start of the race; health assistance; refreshment stands; accident insurance; gifts in raffles from the various sponsors and also includes your donation to the "Save La Geria" Project.

The Councilor for Landscape and Food Sovereignty of the Cabildo, Samuel Martín, recalled that "beyond a sporting event, we organize this event to raise awareness about the importance of caring for our environment and our territory, as well as to recover the landscape of a unique space in the world such as La Geria through the promotion of Lanzarote wines."

The routes

The Long Race will start at Bodega La Florida, following agricultural roads to Bodegas el Grifo, heading north to skirt Montaña Negra and cross the LZ-56 road, skirt the Volcán del Cuervo, until reaching the Bilbao road towards Bodega Stratvs along the LZ-30. It then continues along a path between vineyards to Bodega la Geria and Rubicón, and after crossing tracks or dirt roads, you will reach the esplanade of Uga. The race is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m.

The start of the Short Race will take place south of the LZ-30 road, about 1500m east of the intersection of LZ-30 and LZ-56. They will head north crossing the LZ-30, skirting Montaña Negra, joining the Long Route at the crossing of the Volcán del Cuervo trail. This race starts at 10:00 a.m.

Walk and Wine Run Kids

The start and the section to be covered in the walk on Sunday the 16th will be the same as that of the short race, with highly recommended stops at the various wineries.

On the other hand, on Saturday, June 15, starting at five in the afternoon, the Wine Run Kids will be held, that is, children's races with distances adapted for boys, girls, and young people whose free registrations have been managed online for weeks. Remember that on the day of the event, no on-site registrations will be made.

The categories of the Wine Run Kids and their distances are as follows: pre-Benjamin (100 meters), Benjamin (200 m), Alevín (600 m), Infantil (1,000 m), and Cadet (2,000 m). The start will be located on Joaquín Rodríguez Street and the finish line at the Uga Market.
