After the coronavirus pandemic, Canarians face new economic challenges, such as inflation or problems derived from the war in Ukraine, causing the economy of many households to falter. However, Lanzarote residents seem to have a better economic situation than in the rest of the Canary Islands.
This is reflected in the survey of the Canary Islands Sociobarometer, which indicates that 45.4% of those interviewed -400 in Lanzarote- consider that the current economic situation of their household is good or very good, above the rest of the islands. In addition, 41.9% believe it is regular and 12.4% define it as bad or very bad.
The results also reflect that they are the Canarians with the least difficulty in making ends meet, only behind the inhabitants of La Gomera (24.9%), although it is far from being a positive percentage. Specifically, 29.8% of Lanzarote residents indicated that they have problems, 29.4% have some difficulty and 30.6% have ease to cover all expenses.

In addition, 55.8% believe that their purchasing power has decreased with the pandemic, 34.5% believe that it remains more or less the same and only 9.8% believe that it has increased.
Among the problems that most concern the people of Lanzarote are unemployment and the economy in general, at 19.6%, and inflation, at 17.1%.
Optimistic, but not much
With regard to the current economic situation of the island, 43.1% of Lanzarote residents consider it to be regular, 28.7% bad or very bad and 26.5% good or very good.
It should be noted that, despite the fact that the perception is far from being positive, Lanzarote is the third island with the best impression, only behind El Hierro, where 36.2% believe that their situation is very good, followed by La Gomera with 29.9%.
In addition, the 'conejeros' are among the most optimistic Canarians, although without great expectations, since Lanzarote also occupies the third position in the archipelago in terms of expectations of improvement, behind Tenerife (26.5%) and El Hierro (25.7%).
Although more than half of those surveyed (53.2%) believe that the economic situation will remain the same within a year on the island, 22.5% believe that it will improve, compared to 6% who believe that it will worsen.
The perception of the Canarian and Spanish economy does not improve
As for the current economic situation in the Canary Islands, Lanzarote residents are far from seeing it in a good place, since 46.3% believe it is regular, 26.9% bad or very bad and, finally, only 23.5% consider it very good or good.
The citizens of Lanzarote are also not very optimistic with regard to the improvement of the economy in the archipelago. 51.8% believe that it will remain the same in the next year, 26.4% believe that it will improve and 13.7% that it will be even more deficient.
In addition, the problems that most concern these islanders and that they consider need an urgent solution in the Canary Islands are unemployment, at 40.7%, the health system, at 27.5% and the economy at 26.9%.
The data worsen with regard to the national level, since 43.2% of the citizens of Lanzarote believe that the economic situation in Spain is regular, 31.8% bad or very bad and 18% very good or good.
