The Toñín Corujo Music School will hold a musical event open to the public on June 13th, at 12:00 PM, at the La Parranda Marinera de Los Buches venue, located at Calle ICO nº2 in Arrecife.
The event will bring together students of different ages and levels for a morning where music will serve, once again, as a meeting point between generations, families, and popular culture.
Founded by the Lanzarote musician Toñín Corujo, a figure deeply linked to the timple and the conservation of Canarian sonic identity, the school was born with a vision that went beyond technical teaching.
Its purpose has always been to create a space where music functions as a shared language, capable of connecting sensitivity, creativity, and community.
Over the years, the Toñín Corujo Music School has established itself as one of the most recognizable cultural and educational projects in Lanzarote. Generations of students have passed through its classrooms, many of whom have continued their careers in conservatories, musical groups, or their own artistic initiatives, while many others simply found a place there to discover their creative voice.
Since its inception, the school has maintained a delicate balance between tradition and contemporaneity. In its classes, respect for Canarian musical heritage coexists with new learning methodologies that understand music as an experience of listening, expression, and personal growth.
That spirit will be very present at the event on June 13th, where some students will take the stage for the first time, while others will do so with more experience, sharing repertoire and emotions with family, neighbors, and visitors.
More than a recital, the event aims to become a collective celebration of the island's culture and associative fabric. The school also wanted to highlight the generosity of the Parranda Marinera Los Buches Cultural Association for lending their space for the event, emphasizing "the collaboration and predisposition that exists among Lanzarote's cultural entities to continue strengthening the island's cultural life."
The event will be open access and seeks to bring live music closer to the citizens in a friendly, participatory, and family-friendly atmosphere, reaffirming the role of music as a refuge, bridge, and tool for coexistence.
