Lanzarote, an example of implementation of Dual Vocational Training
Before the delivery, the project director of Dual Vocational Training of the Bertelsmann Foundation, Ignacio de Benito, gave some brushstrokes on the best practices of Dual Vocational Training. De Benito has recognized the work that is being carried out in Lanzarote, where the number of students continues to increase since its launch.
Also present at the event were the Dual Vocational Training prospectors and those responsible for the program at the Zonzamas Integrated Vocational Training Center, a benchmark in this training on the island. This team of teachers participates intensely with the Chamber of Commerce and with companies.
Spain is in the process of evolution in its Vocational Training system, towards a Dual model. In which companies assume a leading role, as co-trainers of students and transmitters of market needs to the educational system. The Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa advises and helps companies to implement this modality.
The award consists of a sculpture by the artist Francisco Montelongo. It consists of two rounded pieces that fit together to form a circle, the two parts that together function as a wheel. It is a bronze cast piece that alludes to the necessary coordination between the productive, business, and educational parts.
