The wind power installed by Endesa in the Canary Islands added 1.4 MW [megawatts] more in 2017 to stand at 62,890 kW, reaching a production of 158,272.9 MWh [megawatt hours] of energy, which allowed supplying more than 45,300 homes on the islands through wind generation.

Endesa participates in 15 wind farms in the Canary Islands, through its renewable subsidiary Enel Green Power España (EGPE), together with different public and private institutions on the islands, distributed as follows: 5 parks in Gran Canaria, 5 in Tenerife, 2 in La Palma, 1 in Fuerteventura, 1 in Lanzarote and 1 in La Gomera. In terms of installed power, the largest is Arico (Tenerife), with 16.5 MW; followed by Cañada de la Barca (Fuerteventura), with a power of 10.2 MW; and Los Valles (Lanzarote), with 7.6 MW.

Regarding the energy generated, the Arico wind farm also recorded the highest wind production figures of the company's parks in the Canary Islands, with more than 29,062 MWh produced, followed by Carretera de Arinaga (Gran Canaria), with 25,587 MWh generated, and Los Valles, which reached 22,735 MWh.

In this sense, the performance of the Barranco de Tirajana and Cueva Grande de Agaete wind farms in Gran Canaria also stood out, multiplying by 2.4 and 1.4 respectively the production recorded in 2016, as a result of the repowering that was carried out in both, which increased their installed power to 2 MW each.

In Spain as a whole, Enel Green Power España was awarded 540 MW of wind power and 339 MW of solar production capacity in the auctions held by the Ministry of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda in the summer of last year. The construction of these wind and solar facilities will involve an investment by Endesa's renewable subsidiary of more than 800 million euros in the coming years. This additional capacity of 879 MW represents an increase of 52.4 percent in the power of Endesa's current renewable energy park.

EGPE currently manages more than 1,806 MW of capacity in Spain and its renewable production plants generate around 4 TWh of emission-free energy each year.
