Lanzarote is a land of volcanic landscapes, unique beaches, rocky landscapes and many possibilities to enjoy the sea and nature. But it is also a land of legendary sporting stories and competitions that are an international benchmark. And it is, to a large extent, due to the calendar of events that Club La Santa organises every year.

Once 2022 was successfully inaugurated with the 4 Stage MTB Race Lanzarote and, with one month to go before the celebration of the Volcano Triathlon, Club La Santa is already preparing in detail what is one of the most iconic events on the island: the Club La Santa IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote. With a total of nine editions, and about to celebrate its tenth anniversary, this event is a meeting point for triathlon fans and the best specialists in the sport.

Unlike its older brother, the Club La Santa IRONMAN Lanzarote, this event consists of exactly half the distances: 1.9 kilometres of swimming, 90 kilometres of cycling and 21 kilometres of running. In addition, it is an official event of the IRONMAN 70.3 circuit that offers qualifying places or slots for different categories of the World Championship, and that annually brings together the best triathletes in the world in Lanzarote.

The competition will start on March 19 at 07:00 in the morning (island time) in Puerto Marina Rubicón with the initial swimming segment that will cover 1.9 kilometres and end in Playa Blanca, where the transition to the cycling section will be located. The cycling route, 90.1 kilometres of hard pedalling, will take place on a two-lap circuit of great beauty in the municipality of Yaiza, with the added incentive for triathletes of having continuous visual contact with other participants running ahead and behind in the race. To culminate this Club La Santa IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote and reach the end of the competition, participants will face a 21.1 kilometre run around the perimeter of Playa Blanca.

This event also includes a race for children under 18, the IRONKIDS, which is similar to the aquathlon format and consists of two disciplines, a first part of swimming and a second part of running, with distances adapted to different age groups.

The Club La Santa IRONMAN 70.3 Lanzarote contributes to the national and international promotion of this island and the Canary Islands as attractive destinations for active tourism, for activities integrated in the environment and, of course, for participation in sporting events.
