Last Saturday, March 10, the inauguration of the first recycling machines on the island, installed in the Chacón facilities in Valterra, took place.
Mr. Rafael Juan González Robaina, Councilor of the Biosphere Reserve, and Mrs. Ana Carrasco Martin, Managing Director of the same, attended this event.
This system allows consumers to return bottles, beverage cans and plastic trays, receiving remuneration for it. This makes Chacón the first store in Lanzarote to install this return system similar to those that operate in more than 40 markets and regions, such as California, Germany, Denmark or Iceland.
In turn, Chacón intends to offer discounts, offers and contests through this system, motivating the user to this practice that is so beneficial for the environment.
"This is the beginning of a project that we want to extrapolate to the rest of the Chacón group stores", which has two other establishments in Arrecife, on Calle Méjico and in Argana, as well as in Playa Honda and Tías, said a company spokesperson at the presentation of the recycling machines.
In operation since 1920, Chacón, with purely Lanzarote capital, offers products of its own making. Currently, Chacón also imports and distributes numerous products of international origin to the restaurant market, hotel establishments, etc...
