The Government of the Netherlands has reported this Thursday that it has raised the risk of the Covid-19 pandemic for the Balearic and Canary Islands, so, from Friday, the authorities advise against traveling to the country and ask to make only the "necessary" ones.
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has detailed in a statement that the authorities have raised the risk from yellow to orange also for Cyprus and Portugal. "There is a worrying trend in the coronavirus figures in these areas," the portfolio stressed.
Thus, to enter the Netherlands from these areas it will be necessary, from this Sunday, to present a vaccination certificate, recovery from Covid-19 or a diagnostic test for COVID-19 with a negative result. However, it will not be necessary to quarantine upon arrival, a measure that already applied to the entire peninsula.
Meanwhile, the Sunweb travel agency has canceled all trips to Spain, Portugal and Cyprus and TUI has extended the period in which there will be no flights to the Balearic and Canary Islands until August 13. The tour operator hopes that the travel warning will be yellow again during this period, according to the newspaper 'De Telegraaf'.
The incidence rate of Covid-19 has skyrocketed in Spain to 432 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, according to data from the Ministry of Health.
