Personnel from the Soria 9 infantry regiment have been conducting ground patrols on the islands of Lanzarote and La Gomera since Tuesday, December 16. These tasks aim to strengthen surveillance, deter potential threats, and ensure the security of terrestrial spaces under national sovereignty on the island. Likewise, during their stay, an exhibition of videos and materials will be held at an educational center on the island.

This activity is integrated into the set of Permanent Operations, one of the main contributions of the Armed Forces (FAS) to National Security in peacetime. These missions underscore the FAS's commitment to the integral defense of the territory and their ability to anticipate any eventuality that could compromise stability.

The deployment not only allows for effective environmental surveillance but also facilitates a greater understanding of the island's terrain and social reality. Furthermore, it fosters the integration of military personnel into the local community and strengthens the bond between the Armed Forces and citizens

Lieutenant General Julio Salom Herrera, head of the Army's Canary Islands Command, is also the Commander of the Land Operations Command (CMOT). In this role, he is responsible for planning presence and surveillance operations not only in the Canary Islands but also in Ceuta, Melilla, and the Balearic Islands, maintaining constant coordination with the relevant civilian and military authorities
