The Minister of Social Welfare, Equality, Youth, Children and Families of the Government of the Canary Islands, Candelaria Delgado, has suffered a fainting spell while appearing this Friday in a committee of the Regional Parliament and has been transferred by ambulance to a health center for assessment.
Delgado, who was answering questions from deputies in the Committee on Social Rights, Equality, Diversity and Youth, began to feel unwell and suffered a fainting spell.
Staff from the Canary Emergency Service attended to her in the first instance and transferred her by ambulance to a health center, according to sources from the Regional Chamber.
The Minister was unable to answer the fourth of the eight questions included in the committee's agenda.
The PP deputy María Isabel Saavedra had to leave her question halfway about the resources that are being allocated to the care and attention of the elderly in vulnerable situations in the face of the evidence that the Minister was not well.
The session was interrupted for a few minutes and resumed, once the Minister was attended to and evacuated, with the appearance of a representative of the human rights association Mi Mundo, after the president of the committee, Yonathan Fumero, wished her a speedy recovery.
Before this incident, the Minister had been able to answer three parliamentary questions.
