The re-elected general secretary of PSOE Canarias, Ángel Víctor Torres, presented this Sunday his new regional executive as the closing of the 15th Regional Congress, which took place in the Magma Arte y Congresos complex, in the municipality of Adeje, Tenerife, where he highlighted the work of all the people who made this congress possible, as well as the mission of the new regional Executive, which will be to "continue working hard to continue winning elections."
Torres, who begins his third term at the head of the party, which he has led since 2017, has headed the only candidacy that has been presented to the regional executive in this twenty-fifth congress of the PSOE Canarias, so there was no possibility of votes against for the 227 accredited delegates.
225 delegates voted, of which 175 in favor and 49 in blank, in addition to a null vote.
In the new leadership, egalitarian and formed by 54 people representing the entire territorial and local structure of the party in the Archipelago, the Secretary of Organization, Nira Fierro, and the Deputy Secretaries Elena Máñez and Rosa Bella Cabrera, as well as the President José Miguel Rodríguez Fraga and the Deputy Secretary of Organization, Manuel Fumero, continue, among others. Among the novelties, Roberto García in the Secretariat of Strategic Coordination; Augusto Hidalgo, as Secretary of Island Coordination, or Anselmo Pestana, at the head of the Territorial Coordination area.
Torres stressed that the PSOE makes proposals so that "this walks" and for the Government of the Canary Islands to move forward: "We do not use politics for personal attacks. We do not use insults in the Parliament of the Canary Islands. How different is that opposition to the opposition of those who did not know how to lose because they lost the government, even though they won the elections. And therefore, from here, from the Canary Islands, from this ultraperipheral region, we tell Mr. Feijóo to learn from us, that politics is to be useful, to help people, to make proposals that improve the fact that we have less unemployment and more rights."
For the general secretary of the Canarian socialists, politics "does not consist of insinuating, slandering, defaming or using the worst of anything, hoaxes, lies and deception to try to destroy the political rival. And not only destroy him in the political sphere, but in all facets of life." In this sense, he wished the President of the Government of Spain and General Secretary of the PSOE, Pedro Sánchez, "all the encouragement, all the strength, because I know what that means."
"We have our present strength by our side, even if they are not seen, which is up to the last member of our organization and the people of good. And that is fundamental to continue walking. They are not going to knock us down there. That is why, for the Canary Islands, more PSOE," he stressed.
Torres recalled the four years of the Pacto de las Flores: "We left unemployment data that we had never known before, that we had lowered them, of prosperity and also of relationship with the Government of Spain, achieving the greatest milestones and achievements. How? With a true Canarian way of negotiating things, of understanding that it was necessary to seek agreements in the face of the brawl that others always have and pursue."

"This week that ends in the Congress of Deputies, the right was able, together with the ultra-right, to knock down a decree in which there was an increase in pensions, social improvements, aid for the DANA in Valencia, aid for the people of La Palma, free transport. And they only did it to inflict a defeat on the Government. But what they were doing is inflicting a defeat on society, on the most disadvantaged, on those who need it most. And that is not politics, and I say it clearly. How can you vote against the social majority?".
"How can a party that is in the Government of the Canary Islands vote against the important things for the Canary Islands? The PP does it. And its partner allows it. And that is not defending the Canary Islands, that is not defending the Canary Islands," he added.
"As Jerónimo Saavedra did, who won the elections in the Canary Islands on one, two and three occasions, we have won them on one, two and we will win them in 2027 for the third time. And that day, when we return to the Government of the Canary Islands, we will continue doing the things we did when we were in that government, we will be on the side of the social majority," he concluded.
Pedro Sánchez: "I declare myself an unconditional admirer of Ángel Víctor Torres"
The president and federal general secretary, Pedro Sánchez, began his speech with an energetic defense of Ángel Víctor Torres: "I have to say it loudly and clearly, I declare myself an unconditional admirer of Ángel Víctor Torres, I am, unconditionally. He is a committed politician, he is a hard-working politician, he is a sensitive politician, in solidarity with those causes that are worthwhile, he is an exemplary politician, I repeat, exemplary. And he is an unbeatable politician, that is why they fear Ángel Víctor and that is why they try to defame him. Unfairly, with lies and hoaxes, but I want you to know, Ángel Víctor, that you not only have the Canarian socialism with you, you have the socialism of all Spain defending your causes because they are the causes of the social majority of the Canary Islands and Spain. Ángel Víctor is one of the best ministers I have in the Government of Spain," he said.
