A reader of La Voz has shared the unusual scene he experienced last weekend in Costa Teguise. A woman was walking two large owls tied with a rope to her body and perched on a baby carriage along one of the most touristy beaches in the coastal town.
The videos were recorded on the afternoon of Saturday, August 24, around 7:00 p.m. on Las Cucharas beach. At that moment, the woman was walking normally with the two animals, while passersby were surprised by the scene. After taking some photos of the animals, they left some coins in a glass that she had placed next to the cart.
From the images, it could be two specimens of eagle owls (bubo bubo), classified as species of special interest and of minor concern. According to SEO BirdLife, this species is the largest of the European nocturnal birds of prey, which feeds on a huge variety of prey and inhabits wild areas with rocks, cliffs and cutoffs.
