The Nautical Academy of Lanzarote expresses its discomfort with the situation of the nautical qualifications exams for the people of Lanzarote.

Its owner, Óscar Fdez. de Pinedo, relates that "a year after we deprived the citizens of the small islands of taking exams on our own islands, the situation remains the same. The double insularity for Fuerteventura and Lanzarote, and the triple for La Graciosa, is still maintained by our politicians. It has been more than a year since the claim for these events, by Academia Náutica Lanzarote, and the President of the Cabildo at the time, did not even have the dignity to receive the representative of the academy, who also spoke on behalf of the academies of Fuerteventura".

Students from Fuerteventura, La Graciosa, and Lanzarote have to travel to Gran Canaria to take their exams, as well as the teachers from the fishing school, to take the exam in contracted classrooms, leaving the Lanzarote Fishing School empty.

"This fact is shameful, incomprehensible, it will be discussed shortly with the new Presidency of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, if it is willing to receive the representation of the Nautical Academies of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura," says Pinedo.
