Residents of Argana Alta, in Arrecife, denounce the accumulation of garbage and lack of containers on Luján Pérez street and its surroundings.
According to them, near the public school of Argana Alta and its surroundings there were some containers that have been removed and "they have not looked for where to relocate them". "The streets are full of cockroaches and rats because residents leave the bags on the corners for the very fact that there are no containers to deposit the bags and the ones that are there are on Tajaraste street in front of Fontanales and they are full of garbage because they are the only ones," criticizes one of the residents.
This has caused many people to opt for leaving accumulations of garbage and waste on the sidewalks and on the road.
After the residents' complaints to the Arrecife City Council, this resident assures that they went to the area "but only two bags and a mattress were removed, leaving the rest of the waste and belongings". "This is causing anger, helplessness, and an unsanitary situation for the residents, especially due to the risk of bad smells and the proliferation of cockroaches and rats," she states.
Therefore, they demand the complete and urgent removal of all waste and belongings currently on Luján Pérez street and the adequate cleaning of the area and assessment of possible pest control measures. They also ask for the relocation of the containers that were removed from the surroundings of the Argana Alta Public School, or the installation of more containers in the area, as well as a review of the situation of the Tajaraste street containers, since "they are clearly insufficient and are constantly full".
