A sailboat ran aground on the coast of La Graciosa on the morning of this past Monday, March 24. The events occurred at 9:30 in the morning between Pedro Álvarez and Punta de la Sonda on the eighth island.
Firefighters from the Security and Emergency Consortium moved to the area. Once there, they observed that the skipper was outside the sailboat. They contacted him and decided to act when the tide went out. They lowered the fuel canisters, a kayak and the skipper's belongings.
According to a complaint from a neighbor, this vessel has been stranded on the site for more than 30 hours. "There is still no coordinated action between the Teguise City Council, the Lanzarote Cabildo, the Canary Islands Government and the General State Administration, despite being a Natural Park or Marine Reserve, to prevent waste from reaching the sea," says a reader.
"Who is responsible for removing the stranded boat in La Graciosa?", he questions.
