The Tahíche Neighborhood Association assures that, less than two weeks after the extraordinary assembly held on June 16, "the internal conflicts in the entity have continued to escalate." According to them, "on this occasion, the four remaining members of the board of directors have called and held a new meeting without the participation or consent of the president, thus deepening the division within the governing body of the entity."
"This fact, which again demonstrates a clear lack of consensus and coordination, occurs on the eve of the town's festivities, generating a climate of tension between neighbors and partners who fear that the particular interests of a few people will end up harming the entire town," they continue.
In this sense, they assure that "given the impossibility of continuing to work with a divided and confronted board of directors, the neighbors themselves were forced to choose between two options proposed by the four conflicting members: either keep these members in charge of managing the festivities, leaving aside the president, or continue with the president, but renouncing the celebration of the festivities as it is unfeasible for one person to assume the entire organization."
"In a gesture of enormous generosity and responsibility towards the town, the president decided to submit her voluntary resignation, putting the interests of the neighbors and the festival committee before her own, thus allowing the celebrations to continue despite the adverse circumstances. This resignation makes clear her commitment to Tahíche, even if it means a direct personal harm," they say.
Likewise, they inform that the following people remain in charge in a strictly provisional manner: the secretary, the vice president, the treasurer, and a member, who "have had no other option, if they want to keep their positions, than to commit to continue only until the end of the patron saint festivities and then, if they want, run again and let the neighbors decide."
The members, meeting informally after learning of the events, have expressed their willingness to "formally request the convocation of a new assembly in August, with the aim of dissolving the current board of directors and opening a participatory process where new candidacies can be presented that restore the good atmosphere, dialogue, and respect that neighborhood management deserves."
"From this anonymous statement, as neighbors and members concerned about the present and future of our community, we reiterate the urgency for associations to be managed with transparency, respect among their members, and a vocation for real service," they conclude.
