A citizen has reported the "total abandonment" of the northern entrance to Costa Teguise, the tourist town of Teguise. The architectural work serves as the entrance to the coastal and residential town.
"One of the great creations of our universal artist César Manrique, which is completely forgotten, without maintenance of the work itself or of the gardens that surround it," this resident stated in a complaint sent to the Your Voice section of this medium.
In this complaint, he denounced that there are "serious cracks" and that there is a "risk of detachment," in addition to the "totally neglected visual appearance." Therefore, he pointed out that "hundreds of cyclists pass by daily who could be hit by these fragments, apart from the thousands of private and public service vehicles."
Finally, he has asked the island institutions, the Teguise City Council and/or the Cabildo of Lanzarote, to ensure safety and to maintain "in perfect condition" this Manrique-style architectural heritage that we have on this island of Lanzarote.
