The residents of La Villa de Teguise are dismayed by what is about to happen. The City Council of the Lanzarote town "wants to cut down the trees in the historic ravine" in that area, with more than 30 years, located on "Mimosa" street.
A decision that the Council has apparently taken "without a strong reason" only "because of a complaint" from someone who "cannot walk through the place", according to the testimony of some residents of the surrounding area.

The residents have gone to the City Council to ask for explanations but "they have only been told" that "they will go there to take a look" and know "how they are going to cut it down". It is due to "a firmly taken decision", as the residents clarify to us.
The citizens are "very concerned" about the possible loss of "one of the few green areas with immense fauna that Lanzarote has", says a resident. They claim that "we all enjoy that area", to which they dedicate a great degree of intervention and time, "we take care of it", always keeping in mind a feeling of preserving the heritage "because our island is wonderful". Which is why they demand the need to continue preserving it, "we must not let it be taken away from us", they say.
They believe it is "unfair" to destroy "something so precious and natural". Although the inhabitants "do not know what else to do" to avoid the situation, they make it clear that "we are going to continue going to the City Council for solutions".
In addition, they want this public complaint to reach the largest number of people: "hopefully people will see it".
