A resident of Punta Mujeres has contacted La Voz to report the spills and bad odors caused by sewers located next to one of the small boatyards in the town.
In this sense, she assures that "we have been having the same problem for years and demanding that Canal Gestión come to unclog the pump and what they tell us from the Haría City Council is that they call the company, but the problem is in the size because being so small, it does not cover so many people that there are today in the town".
The reader points out that it occurs, above all, during the summers, and in winter it also happens but to a lesser extent. "The residents of the area endure bad odors and, even, there are dead rats on the shore, because if the pump cannot absorb all the dirt, all the waste ends up in the boatyard", she says.
In addition, she explains that "some houses in the area that are relatively recent are not connected to the sanitation system and we have seen that there are pipes that directly flow into the sea, so the waves distribute all those spills through the natural pools that are around".
"There have been summers in which they have had to close the natural pools due to the presence of feces in the water and in this area of Punta Mujeres you cannot be because of the bad odors, it is vomit-inducing and, in addition, we have mosquitoes in the house and we cannot open the windows", the neighbor continues.
Therefore, they ask for a definitive solution to Canal Gestión and the City Council because, according to her, "the only remedy that the company has put in place is to come with the truck, empty the sewers and leave, so we continue to have the problem".
