A reader has contacted La Voz to denounce the problems with public transport in Lanzarote. "Years go by and there is still no solution, those of us in the north of Lanzarote have quite a few transport problems for more and more people, especially for those of us who have disabilities," he says.
The man complains that the inhabitants of the north have a more difficult time going to other areas of the island. "There are many hours to cover in the north, there are no buses from Mala to Arrecife at 8:00 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 3:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m., 9:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m., 11:00 p.m., 12:00 a.m. or at dawn, and neither back from Arrecife to Mala. It is very badly distributed," he says.
"If you live in Charco del Palo you can't get an analysis at the hospital because there is no transport at eight in the morning in the north, neither buses nor taxis. There is only a bus at 07:19 hours in Mala and two hours later at 09:04," he says.
In addition, he criticizes that some activities such as going to the cinema, having dinner out, going to a pub or to nocturnal emergencies cannot be done due to the few bus schedules. He also denounces that "there is no taxi switchboard in Haría and they do not attend you if you go to short trips or from 5:00 p.m. If there are no buses or taxis in Charco del Palo in the afternoons and evenings it is impossible to live."
He also emphasizes that there is no night light on the sidewalk or on the road of Charco del Palo and "there should be a bus or taxi bus from Mala to the town at the last hour since it is very dangerous to walk at night without light or electricity on a road with many curves of a single lane for 45 minutes and without a sidewalk, one day we will be run over."
Therefore, the solutions that the reader asks for is that "the bus service be implemented to cover the hours in which there is none, put solar or electric grid lights on the road of Charco del Palo and put some sidewalk or path for pedestrians, and possible bike lane, on the road."
