A reader has contacted La Voz to report that IMSERSO trips do not have departures from Lanzarote and the other non-capital islands. Therefore, residents of these islands must fly to Gran Canaria or Tenerife and, in addition, "pay for one or two nights of hotel out of their own pocket".
According to the woman, "before there was a subsidy for the plane that you collected from Social Tourism after traveling and waiting three months for the payment, but due to the digital divide of the elderly, it happens that whoever knows computers, can book up to five trips from home and others none".
The reason is "because IMSERSO has not changed its conditions," she declares. For this reason, "these residents have to spend every day at travel agencies or ask friends or family for favors to solve it for you," the reader criticizes.
She also denounces that "in cities such as Ceuta, Melilla and the three islands of the Balearic Islands they do have their own departures, but Lanzarote with a similar population does not." Therefore, the woman asks that this inconvenience be resolved so that the elderly can enjoy their vacations.
