A resident of Arrecife has contacted La Voz to report the situation he is experiencing in his house due to the roots of a tree, which have clogged his toilet.
“For some time we noticed how the toilet was clogging, and for a few weeks these clogs have been more frequent”, he says, explaining that when his father-in-law decided to put a guide in to try to unclog it, “his surprise was that when he took it out, it had remains of roots from inside the pipe”.
The neighbor maintains that he has informed the City Council and that he has also personally informed several councilors “to put a solution as soon as possible”. “The use of the toilet is essential for the habitability and hygiene of a house”, he emphasizes.
In addition, he explains that it is not the first time that the roots of the tree have affected the house, since some time ago it suffered humidity and when pecking “they saw that there were roots in the pipe”.
He also assures that more than 30 years ago his father-in-law also suffered problems with the roots of the trees planted on the road, which clogged the drains and caused water to enter the house on rainy days.
At that time, the neighbor points out that the City Council intervened and repaired the damage caused, and that they even made “a small concrete barrier to prevent it from happening again”. However, the problem has returned 30 years later.
