In recent months, ticket prices for flying with Binter between islands and nationally have increased considerably despite the 75% resident discount that is applied at the time of purchase.
In this regard, a reader has contacted La Voz to denounce this situation. In her case, her daughter, who studies in Tenerife, has paid 85.30 euros for a round trip ticket to fly to Lanzarote this coming weekend, which she bought on March 31.
However, if we compare prices, it would be cheaper to travel to Madrid from Lanzarote than between islands on the same dates, from April 11 to 20. Specifically, if we bought tickets with Iberia Express for those days, the round trip would cost us 56 euros, a lower price than if we traveled to Tenerife North.
In the case of wanting to fly to Madrid with Binter on these same dates from Lanzarote, the price of the tickets skyrockets. The round trip ticket would cost 158.68 euros despite choosing the cheapest fares.
If we choose a more distant date, such as traveling to Tenerife North from Lanzarote from May 9 to 11, it would be somewhat cheaper, 55.80 euros, but if we chose Madrid as a destination on those same dates, the cost of the tickets would be 44.90 in Iberia Express.
Therefore, if we compare Binter's prices with other airlines such as Iberia Express, the results reveal that it is cheaper to travel to the Peninsula than to travel between islands despite the resident discount.
