A resident of Añaza street in the municipality of Arrecife has reported that this Sunday a group of young people staged a mass fight in the middle of the street during midnight. The resident insists that "he has been enduring weekends of cars racing, neighbors suffering altercations and fights for years."
At 00:00 hours, a group of six young men began to fight on one of the sidewalks of the aforementioned street. As can be seen in a video accessed by La Voz, two of them, apparently drunk, began to harangue each other while the rest tried to separate them. According to this neighbor, they were like this for approximately 30 to 40 minutes. After being alerted, the Local Police approached the place, but they had already left when the agents arrived.
This event is not an isolated case during weekends in the area. According to the neighbor's testimony, vehicles usually pass at high speed during Saturdays and Sundays, fleeing from police controls at the exits of nightlife venues. "It's an exaggerated thing, we only ask for the tranquility and security of the street," he says. On some occasions, the high speed of the cars on these residential streets has caused accidents against homes.
In front of these houses there is a bar that opens early and is frequented early in the morning by people who continue the day of celebration.
"It seems that until a misfortune happens, which hopefully will not happen, this is not going to change," he anticipates. At this time, the residents of Añaza street only ask that speed bumps or bumps be installed in order to reduce the speed of cars circulating on it.
