A woman from Lanzarote residing in Gran Canaria, denounces the "elimination of health care" for her daughter with autism. The two-year-old girl attended a health center on the island, where she received weekly sessions to treat the disorder. Due to various circumstances, the Canary Health Service has eliminated these appointments overnight.
"She has only been able to receive assistance for one month", the mother tells La Voz. She received the sessions two days a week and last Wednesday, October 7, she had the last one. "A total of six sessions", are what she had been scheduled for, she highlighted.
"The sick leave of one of the specialist's substitutes", is the reason why the girl can no longer receive that care, the woman clarified. A service that they have decided to paralyze. "They are not going to hire anyone else", she highlighted.
As an alternative to the problem, the mother has had to pay "a session of 70 euros" in a private center so that her daughter can continue to maintain the treatment. An economic outlay that she and her partner cannot sustain over time. "I also have two other children to support", she revealed.

In addition, she is not the only family affected by the measure taken by the Health Service. According to what she said, "there are quite a few families" who have been left without receiving help. Those who received the news "unexpectedly" in consultation when they went to be attended. "If I hadn't gone to the health center, I wouldn't have found out about anything", she criticized.
