What is the best time to travel to Lanzarote

Autumn is usually the best season, as it brings together three essential conditions, such as warmth, less tourist crowds, and a decrease in wind.

The island of Lanzarote stands out for its warm but moderate average temperature, between 19 and 26ºC, and for its almost nonexistent rainfall, therefore, it could be said that it is a good destination to visit at any time of the year.

However, there are three important factors to take into account when choosing one month or another: the hours of daylight, tourism, and the wind.

Why choose October to travel to the island

The month of October is the only month that brings together all the conditions that most travelers look for: relatively long days, heat, less tourist overcrowding, and less wind.

Specifically, the temperature in October remains high, around an average of 25ºC, which makes it a warm month, but without the great heat waves that hit the island in summer.

In addition, it is a time with plenty of daylight hours to enjoy beach days, but the key factor is the decrease in wind. In October, wind gusts average between 15 and 19 kilometers per hour, compared to nearly 30 recorded in the peak summer months.

Despite all these conditions making October the best month of the year, it is a month where tourism drops considerably, with an occupancy rate around 80%, a percentage typical of the weaker months, compared to 90% in July and August. This is a direct consequence of the end of the holidays for many families, whose parents have to return to work in September and the youngest to school, as the school year begins.

Therefore, you will be able to enjoy Lanzarote without having to wait in long lines to visit the Centros Turísticos and you will have numerous beaches practically deserted just for you.

September and November, a good alternative

The month of September also has quite high temperatures, around 26ºC and the wind begins to stop blowing strongly, with gusts of about 20 and 25 kilometers per hour on average.

As for prices, both in September, as well as in October and November, the daily accommodation rates drop to 20 euros, so they are also a good alternative for those who want to save on their trip to Lanzarote. However, finding accommodation in September can become a somewhat complicated task, since the occupancy tends to be around 90%.

Likewise, it is important to mention that, in recent years, the first days of November have also begun to have very favorable conditions, despite being relatively close to the winter season.

In the second to last month of the year, temperatures are substantially lower, but remain in the 20s and 25ºC. Regarding the wind, it begins to blow a little stronger, with gusts between 19 and 25 kilometers per hour, but which still allow for enjoying beach days.

Therefore, for those undecided who have the freedom to fly at any time of the year, without a doubt, they should opt for autumn to travel to Lanzarote.
