Lanzarote is a perfect island to rest and disconnect on its beaches and natural pools. However, many tourists prefer to make the most of their trip in a more active way, with adventure activities that allow them to feel the adrenaline of the Alisios winds or the Atlantic Ocean.

1. Diving baptism

Many tourists arrive in Lanzarote every year to explore the biodiversity of its seabed. Diving is a practice that can be done by both beginners and experts. For those who do not have enough time to train in it, they can do a diving baptism.

It is an immersion of about two hours that begins on the beach and will allow you to dive to several meters deep. In addition, it is an activity that you can do with children, as long as they are at least eight years old. The price is around 60 euros per person, although it may vary slightly depending on the company hired.

2. Submarine excursion

On the other hand, for those who prefer to enjoy the seabed from the comfort of their seat, they can do so inside a submarine.

In the Puerto Calero area, you can book an excursion on a yellow submarine that will allow you to go down to 30 meters deep to see an infinity of fish of different species up close. The experience lasts about an hour and costs about 60 euros per person.

3. Dolphin and cetacean watching

For those who prefer slightly more relaxed activities, but from the surface, they can book an excursion to see cetaceans and dolphins off the coast of Puerto del Carmen or even on the Isla de Lobos, south of Lanzarote.

These are boat trips in small groups, where you will be accompanied by a guide who will explain the particularities of the island's seabed, as well as the animals you encounter. For the more adventurous, there are also some excursions that allow you to jump into the water and snorkel with dolphins.

Also, depending on the time of year you take the tour, you can see certain species or others, such as sperm whales, fin whales, and even orcas, although they are less common in Lanzarotean waters. The price is around 40 or 50 euros.

4. Kayaking in Papagayo

The sea can also be a perfect place to exercise, which is why beaches like Papagayo, in the south of the island, offer activities such as kayak tours.

Kayaks can be booked individually or guided excursions can be hired, which will allow you to enjoy incredible sunsets from the coves in the area, the cliffs, and the virgin beaches. The price for renting a kayak is around 20 euros, and if you prefer to hire a guided tour, the price will rise to 40, as it will also include equipment, photos and videos, and some snacks.

5. Windsurfing

Lanzarote is also known for its incredible conditions for practicing water sports such as windsurfing thanks to its trade winds.

Such is the quality of these spots, mainly spread along the east coast of the island, that Lanzarote has been the venue for the windsurfing world championship for years.

6. Cycling

For lovers of land sports, a good option is to go exploring the island by bicycle, whether road or mountain bike. 

This way you can immerse yourself among volcanoes, but also reach breathtaking viewpoints like the well-known Mirador del Río, you can even add kilometers on the neighboring island, La Graciosa.
