The Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI) has announced the new members of the Caixabank Paralympic Promises Team, who will begin working towards the upcoming national and international events. The Lanzarote native Victoria Velázquez Hernández, a triathlete from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, has been included in the national team and has been selected within the PTS3 category.
More than 30 triathletes have participated in the 2025 Time Trials and in the Paralympic Triathlon classification processes of the Spanish Triathlon Federation, through which the new Caixabank Paralympic Promises Team has been formed. The national team will be composed of twelve paratriathletes, including Victoria Velázquez Hernández from Lanzarote.
The triathlete from the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife will compete in the PTS3 Women's category, intended for athletes who have moderately limited coordination on one side of the body, or lack limbs. Without a doubt, Victoria Velázquez has always demonstrated her desire to overcome challenges through triathlon, being one of her great passions in her daily life.
The Caixabank Paralympic Promises Team stands out for the youth of most of its members, who will work towards the next Olympic cycle of Los Angeles 2028. From now on, they will be selected to participate in the Paratriathlon World Series events, as well as the European and World Championships, or the World Cups, all in order to continue progressing in this demanding sport.
The president of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife, Julio Romero, wishes to congratulate Victoria Velázquez Hernández for her inclusion in the Caixabank Paralympic Promises Team, and conveys his best wishes for the Olympic cycle that begins now for her, being sure that she will continue to enjoy the sport and keep the name of Lanzarote high.
