UD Lanzarote already knows the roadmap for the 2021/2022 season, a campaign in which the red-and-whites will once again compete in the Canary group of the Third Division RFEF. The Canary Islands Football Federation announced on Friday the official calendar of the competition, which will start on the weekend of September 4-5. The red-and-whites start the season against Unión Puerto at the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote.

The Canary group of the Third Division RFEF will be made up of 17 teams this season, grouped into a single group and with a double round-robin league system. The champion of the regular phase will be directly promoted to the Second Division RFEF and those classified from second to sixth place will play a promotion play-off. At the bottom, four teams will lose the category, although the number of relegations may be increased if Canary teams are relegated from the higher category.

UD Lanzarote will start the season receiving the visit of Unión Puerto, a match initially scheduled for Sunday, September 5 at 12:00 hours at the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote. The first trip for the red-and-whites will be to Gran Canaria to face UD Las Palmas “C”. The first month of competition is completed with the match against Gran Tarajal in the third matchday and the trip to Gran Canaria to face UD Villa de Santa Brígida in the fourth match of the season.

The Lanzarote derby in the Third Division RFEF is recovered this season, after the promotion of Unión Sur Yaiza to the category. The first match of maximum rivalry will arrive on the ninth matchday, with the southerners visiting the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote on the weekend of October 24. The return match will arrive on the twenty-sixth matchday, with UD Lanzarote moving to the Municipal de Yaiza on the weekend of March 5.

The category will be made up of an odd number of teams this season, so in each matchday there will be a team that will have to rest. UD Lanzarote will have to rest on the last matchday of the regular competition, so they will close their participation one week before the rest of their rivals. The last match of the season for the red-and-whites will be against SD Tenisca and the regular phase of the competition will be extended until the first weekend of May.
