The direct duel for the fight for the promotion play-off in the Third Federation was decided on the side of UD Ibarra, a rival that on Saturday afternoon defeated UD Lanzarote 2-0. The rojillos were surpassed by a team that is on an upward trend and that took advantage of the opportunities they generated to take the three points that were at stake.
After a start to the match with dominance from UD Ibarra, UD Lanzarote was balancing the forces on the field, until the Tenerife team had the first clear opportunity. A grab on Arturo inside the area was punished as a penalty. Arturo himself executed the penalty and ended up crashing the ball into the crossbar.
Iván Hujo had the clearest chance for the rojillos, finishing a cross that went wide. And the one who did not forgive was UD Ibarra in the 29th minute, Marcos finishing from inside the area and surprising Ruymán with a shot that went into the entire squad.
UD Lanzarote took a step forward in the second half, and as soon as the period began, Álvaro Iglesias had the best chance, with Ángel Galván taking the shot that was looking for the near post. The push of UD Lanzarote faded as the minutes passed.
The sentence came thirteen minutes before the end. Marcos stole a ball, went down the left side and with a crossed shot sent the ball into the back of the net. With the 2-0 score, the match came to an end, a result that once again takes UD Lanzarote out of the promotion play-off zone of the Third Federation.
