UD Lanzarote continues without knowing victory at Argelio Tabares, and on Saturday afternoon they could only rescue a point in their visit to CD Santa Úrsula. The Rojillos took a step forward in the second half in search of the winning goal, but saw how the Tenerife team took the lead on the scoreboard. In the last minute, a penalty committed on Ismael Traoré was converted by León Gómez to achieve the tie.
UD Lanzarote took control of the match from the start, and it only took seven minutes to generate their first dangerous chance. A good combination in the vicinity of the area was culminated by Adrián Machín, and his shot ended up going close to the base of the post of the goal. The response from Santa Úrsula was immediate, with a long throw-in executed by Javi Yanes, Nene controlled the ball inside the area and the shot at mid-height did not find the goal defended by Alejandro.
The first half of the match was characterized by arrivals of both teams to the areas, but not being able to generate danger before the goalkeepers. UD Lanzarote tried again with a free kick executed by Raúl from the front of the area, going close to the post the powerful launch of the central defender rojillo. With the draw at zero, the break was reached.
UD Lanzarote took a step forward in the second half and went in search of the three important points that were at stake. As soon as the second period began, Matías Sosa put a ball to the heart of the area and it was finished off by Jorge Canillas deflected. Shortly after, Santi Rosa was not able to take advantage of an imprecision of the goalkeeper Juanje and his shot went over the crossbar.
UD Lanzarote continued to press in search of the goal that would put them ahead on the scoreboard. The best chance for the Rojillos would come after half an hour, with a long ball for the entry of Jorge Canillas, the striker stood alone inside the area and in the one-on-one with Juanje ended up sending the ball over the crossbar.
Despite the dominance of the visitors, it was CD Santa Úrsula who managed to take the lead on the scoreboard with seven minutes remaining for the end of the match. A distant shot from Raúl surprised goalkeeper Alejandro and the ball ended up sneaking inside the goal next to the post.
UD Lanzarote did not lower their arms with the goal conceded and went in search of the equalizing goal. In the 89th minute, goalkeeper Juanje knocked down Ismael Traoré inside the area, with the referee pointing out the maximum penalty in favor of the Rojillos. León Gómez was in charge of executing the penalty and establishing the tie.
With the draw at one goal, the end of the match was reached, a point that tastes little to UD Lanzarote and that leaves in the Argelio Tabares many of its options to be able to fight for direct promotion in the six matches that remain until the end. On Wednesday, UD Lanzarote recovers the postponed match against UD Las Palmas Atlético.
