With only 10 days left until the end of the season, the teams are tightening the screws and are performing at their best on the field. Nothing is decided yet and everyone has reasons to keep fighting.
On the one hand, clubs like Laguna, Victoria or Vera are fighting to get out of the relegation places and not end up in the Regional Division. On the other hand, the top positions in the standings remain tied and there is currently no defined group champion. Expert predictions predict that the contest will remain until the end of the season, so we will have to pay attention to each match.
CD Marino continues to lead the standings, and with only two defeats is in first place in the group just two points behind the second and third in contention. After the match between UD Lanzarote and CD Marino, which resulted in a 1-1 draw between both teams, all eyes are on this Sunday. The island of La Palma will be in charge of witnessing the next match between UD Lanzarote and CD Mensajero, a crucial match for the standings.
The ten days that remain are decisive for most teams. Also, although it seems that there is only talk of promotion or relegation, deep down there is much more at stake -especially if we refer to the Third Division-.
It should be noted that a large part of the players in this category -not to say the majority- do not dedicate themselves to football full time. Although we can consider them professionals, the economic conditions of the clubs force them to work in other fields. A promotion in category could mean dedicating themselves to football professionally and having the remuneration they really deserve.
For the moment we will have to wait to know who will be the Canarian leader of the Third Division, and who knows if one day also the leader of the First Division, something that many cannot even imagine.
