UD Lanzarote begins the year with a victory, consolidating their second position in the Canary Islands group of Tercera Federación, after defeating San Bartolomé CF 3-0 in the local derby. With a great atmosphere at the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote, Moha put the "rojillos" ahead before halftime and extended the lead with a penalty. Nami sealed the win in stoppage time.
The match began 20 minutes late due to a medical emergency in the stands of the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote, in which fortunately the fan was able to leave the stadium on their own. An intense start to the match with chances for both teams, with Javi Martín having the clearest opportunity for the home side with a corner kick that he headed just high.
Just before the half-hour mark, UD Lanzarote was forced to make a substitution due to Traore's injury, and the player had to be taken to a medical center. Minutes later, Moha put the home team ahead from a set piece. A free kick from Ale Fuentes on the right flank was headed in at the far post by Moha, an unstoppable finish.
San Bartolomé took a step forward in the second half, and just when they were playing best, the action for the second goal arrived. Moha was brought down inside the area by Borja Arrocha, the referee signaling a penalty, and the visiting player was sent off with a second yellow card. Moha took charge of executing the penalty to make it 2-0.
With space, UD Lanzarote sought to increase their lead, but were not accurate with the final pass. The third goal of the match came in the 95th minute, when Nami took advantage of a cross from Adrián Machín from the right to finish subtly from inside the six-yard box.
UD Lanzarote wins the derby 3-0, a result that allows them to regain second place and depend on themselves to seize the lead. The "rojillos" will visit Real Unión de Tenerife next Saturday to close out the first half of the season.
