The island of Lanzarote will host the Lanzarote 2026 Triathlon World Cup, which will be held on Saturday, March 14 in Costa Teguise, consolidating itself as the first major international event of the season within the official World Triathlon calendar.
The event is organized with the support of the Spanish Triathlon Federation (FETRI), the Cabildo of Lanzarote, the Government of the Canary Islands and the City Council of Teguise, in addition to the collaboration of the Canary Islands Triathlon Federation, reinforcing Lanzarote's positioning as one of the great international triathlon destinations.
The competition will have its epicenter in the coastal area of Costa Teguise, with routes that combine natural and urban emblematic scenarios of the island. which will surely be to the liking of both elite athletes and popular ones who will complete with their races the day of Saturday, March 14.
Elite Participation and Favorites
In the Women's Elite category the presence of British Georgia Taylor-Brown stands out, Olympic medalist and world champion, along with international triathletes such as Laura Lindemann, Nina Eim, Ilaria Zane or Sandra Dodet. While in the men's category, one of the big names will be the Frenchman Dorian Coninx, world champion, in a race with numerous podium contenders.
For its part, the Triarmada will have a wide participation in both elite competitions. With Pelayo González, David Cantero, Eloy Canales, Izan Edo, Esteban Basanta, Genis Grau, Vicente Hernández, Antonio Serrat and Kevin Tarek Viñuela in the men's event. While, in the women's elite, Miriam Casillas, Alejandra Seguí, Marta Pintanel, María Casals, Ana Carballo, María Barceló, Marina Muñoz, Cecilia Santamaría, Clara Aulinas, María Teresa Jiménez-Orta and Noelia Juan will be present.
The competition will be a great opportunity for national athletes to compete at home and add important points in the international ranking ahead of the start of the Olympic qualification period for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games which will begin in the coming months. The choice of Lanzarote responds to its climatic conditions, sports infrastructure, and organizational tradition, factors that have made it one of the main training destinations for professional triathletes from all over the world. With this World Cup, the island reinforces its international positioning and Spain consolidates its prominence in the world calendar.
