After a month of October marked by intense activity in emergencies, training, and prevention, EMERLAN wishes to especially highlight the Aquatic Rescue and Lifesaving Conference, held on October 3, 4, and 5 in Lanzarote.

For three days, our organization brought together teachers, rescuers, and emergency professionals from Tenerife, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, El Hierro, and Lanzarote, making this meeting a space for training, exchange of experiences, and cooperation between teams from different islands.

Participants carried out aquatic rescue training and maneuvers with jet skis, interventions from semi-rigid boats, rescues in rocky areas, and coordination and rescue exercises with helicopters.

Beyond the techniques practiced, these conferences allowed for the sharing of knowledge, experiences, and work procedures, strengthening coordination among professionals who share the same objective: to be better prepared to intervene when a life is in danger.

From EMERLAN, we want to express our gratitude to the Special Group of Underwater Activities (GEAS) of the Civil Guard, the association Ayudas en Emergencias Anaga (AEA), the teachers from the Maritime Fishing Vocational Training Institute of the Canary Islands and the Zonzamas Integrated Vocational Training Center, as well as to our entire team and the crew of the MI-21 helicopter of the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES), for their involvement, professionalism, and commitment during the different training sessions.

"We also want to extend our special thanks to the Government of the Canary Islands, and particularly to the Vice-Minister of Emergencies and Water, Marcos Lorenzo, and the Director Fernando Figueredo, for the support, closeness, and collaboration they show towards our organization and towards initiatives that contribute to improving the preparedness of the archipelago's emergency teams," they state.

Likewise, "we thank the Department of Sports of the Cabildo of Lanzarote and Marina Rubicón for their collaboration and willingness, facilitating the cession of necessary facilities for the development of these conferences. Their support has contributed to making this training meeting possible."

At EMERLAN, "we firmly believe that preparation, continuous training, and collaboration between entities are fundamental to offering an effective response to any emergency. Because when the time comes to intervene, training, coordination, and experience can make the difference between life and death."
