Next Friday, June 2nd, the three athletes from Lanzarote Rubén Toribio, Ayose Tejera and Toño Cedrés will be ready to unite the 8 Canary Islands in seven days by bicycle.
The departure will be next Friday on the island of La Graciosa and will end on June 8 on the island of La Palma, adding a total of 755km and 17,263m of positive difference in altitude after joining port to port on each island.
Restos Solidarios arose from the initiative of these three friends, who turned their annual adventure trip into a social action and thus, in 2022, carried out the trans-Pyrenean route in MTB. This action is framed within the Retos Solidarios association, which seeks to give visibility and raise funds in favor of Acompañar, an association for care in serious illnesses and grief processes.
Acompañar is a social association that is formed to give body to the work that its president, Sergio García, has been doing since the nineties. "Acompañar was born to fill the space of loneliness and chaos that is generated after the diagnosis of a serious illness or the loss of a loved one or any other loss," the association reports.
Among other tasks, they accompany the patient and the family during the process of serious illness, to provide them with the care and assistance necessary to make this process as integrative as possible and guarantee, thus, a dignified death, he adds.
The association participates in the hospital process of patients, with musical accompaniment in different spaces such as in the Pediatrics service, with music therapy sessions in coordination with the tutor of the Hospital classroom. Or, on the other hand, with interventions in the Oncohematological Day Hospital, where traditionally different artists of the formation have been participating, he collects.
