The Canary Islands CCR Championship and the Las Palmas Rallysprints, plus the Lanzarote Island Championship, have a new date this Saturday on the "El Cuchillo" section as the protagonist with its complicated 6.2 km route in the municipality of Tinajo.

New scoring event for these three championships that will bring together 33 teams in a list led with number 1 by the team of Jonay Fragiel-Kilian Camacho (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo), followed by the top two classified in the regional event after the already distant Arucas Rallysprint, the Lanzarote leaders Oscar Cabrera-Aitor Cambeiro with the Citroen C3 Rally2, already recovered from its attempted fire in the past Rallye de Gran Canaria and winners in Arucas last April. And the second classified, the Gran Canaria drivers Julián Falcón-Jacob Páez with the Skoda Fabia Rally2, seconds in Arucas in their debut with this mount. Joining them, completing the group of favorites, is the Lanzarote driver Yeray Lemes who returns to the Porsche 911 GTR, this time co-piloted by the novice Bárbara Lemes Barrios.

Domingo Hernández-Santiago González with Honda Civic Type-R is one of the few teams from Tenerife that are going to follow the CCR and will be in this Lanzarote event, where a good competition of local teams awaits them to be in the leading group, such as that of Víctor Afonso-Luis Hernández (Mitsubishi Lancer Evo), Alvaro Caballero-Noé González (BMW M3) or Oscar Curbelo-Diego Curbelo (Renault Megane Coupé). The same mount that Suso Lemes will drive with Julián Arrocha on the right side. And with them will surely be the Rally4 group cars, such as that of Aníbal Machín-Borja de León (Peugeot 308).

The event will be organized by CD. Evesport, in collaboration with the City Council of Tinajo and the main sponsorship of the Cabildo de Lanzarote.

The program is in the morning, with verifications starting at 8:30 a.m. in La Vegueta and the start of the first of the six passes at 11:00 a.m. Then the rest of the heats (three in each direction of the "El Cuchillo-Soo" section extended to 6.2 km), which will add up to 37.2 km timed.

The final awards ceremony will be at around 4:30 p.m. All this in the town of La Vegueta next to the Yacomar Socio-Cultural Center, as the headquarters of all the activities of the XXIX Rallysprint Tomás Viera-Tinajo 2024.

It must be remembered that the edition of last year, was held in a good atmosphere in the section cut to 5.6 km, prioritizing once again the electrifying spectacle of this route that lives up to its name "El Cuchillo". In 2023 there was an interesting fight for the triumph in a section that does not forgive mistakes, where the surprise can always jump. With that scenario, the winners of the last edition were Yeray Lemes with an occasional co-pilot as well, Sotero Martín (Porsche 911 GT3), whose best times in each direction of the section were 2.39 and 2.41. They were accompanied on the podium by Oliver Rodríguez-David Rivero with another similar mount and Roberto Hernández-Cristhofer Rijo on a Peugeot 208 Rally4.

The anecdote was marked by the mayor of Tinajo Jesús Machín, who returned to the competition after 11 years of inactivity, reaping an eighth place overall driving a Renault Clio R3T, with his daughter Naroa as co-pilot.

The City Council of Tinajo and Deportes-Tinajo, together with the rest of the sponsors of the Lanzarote Championship, such as the Cabildo and the Insular Sports Service, the Lanzarote companies Orvecame and CICAR, Art, Culture and Tourism Centers of Lanzarote and Naviera Armas, are the collaborators with the organization of the CD. Evesport.
