On September 1st in La Caleta de Famara, and within the framework of the festivities of the coastal town, the second edition of 'Famara Skate' was held, a championship that is organized by the 'Escuela Local de Skate Cojinete Sk8' in collaboration with the Teguise City Council, specifically its Youth area, the 'Neighborhood Association' of La Caleta de Famara and more than "forty sponsors".

“It is important that the bets made by the City Council have continuity over time, because that is how you manage to build loyalty with the public." Therefore, this championship "we want to present it as a showcase to make the practice of skateboarding in the municipality more known, but also as a way of cohesion for young people to build their community,” explains the Councilor for Youth, Javier Díaz.

Under these premises, "hundreds of people" were able to enjoy an event for all audiences in which the youngest were invited to participate as an exhibition, that is, without entering into competition. In this way, "ten skaters were encouraged in this category, surrounded by the public and the organizers."

In the under 16 category the classified females were:

1st: Laila

2nd: Zoë

3rd: Aroa

In the under 16 category the classified males were:

1st Kaiden

2nd Luca

3rd Amán

After this show it was the turn of the 'Open male and female' with cash prizes of one hundred, two hundred and three hundred euros for the first, second and third place. In this sense, the male winners were:

1st: Kyun

2nd: Mario

3rd: Kaiden

In the female category two people participated:

1st: Abbie

2nd: Noa

And finally, the 'Best Trick' award was developed, which was taken by Dani, and the 'Longest Ollie' which was for Mario with the entire event enlivened by DJ Bigbayah. In the words of one of the organizers, Jacobo Cáceres, this event takes place thanks to the "involvement of many people", among which he highlights the volunteers: Rosa, Orlando, Mónica, Alberto, Tania and Melania, “without whom it would be unthinkable to carry out a test of these characteristics, because there are many details that must be polished: from the assembly of the infrastructure to the marketing work for its promotion.”

In fact, on this occasion, they relied on a video starring the Lanzarote comedian, Kike Pérez, to mobilize the public, which reached 2,600 likes on Instagram and obtained more than 71,000 views.
