Not even the light rain that appeared on Saturday in the municipality of Tías, prevented the celebration of the twenty-sixth edition of the Minibasket Festival, organized by CD Magec Tías at CEIP Alcalde Rafael Cedrés.
The event, in which nearly 500 children participated, belonging to the organizing club, CD Magec Tías, as well as Tizziri Tinajo, CB Conejero, Academia Lanzabasket, CB La Villa de Teguise, CB Haría La Cuesta Arriba and CB Los Toscones Corralejo from Fuerteventura, was once again experienced with the enthusiasm of years past.
Basketball was the epicenter of Saturday morning with countless matches that, from 09:00 in the morning, took place in the educational facilities. Although the rain made an appearance and forced the organization to make a small stop of just 30 minutes, the young players of the attending teams were eager to return to the courts, enjoying an event that has already become a classic of island and regional grassroots basketball.
The Minibasket Festival does not have a team that has come first because whoever wins in each of the editions that are held is basketball in general. The parents enjoyed as much as the children and with exquisite behavior applauded the celebration of each game, regardless of the result.
Apart from basketball, the Minibasket Festival was accompanied by bouncy castles, so that players who did not have to participate at some point, could continue doing activities without stopping having fun throughout the morning.
CD Magec Tías wants to thank the participation of the clubs involved in this twenty-sixth edition of the Minibasket Festival, as well as the parents who accompanied these players, not forgetting the members of the club, parents who have helped in a special way; grassroots players who helped in the arbitration of the matches; and coaches who have collaborated to make this event once again what it was before the pandemic, a real party.
