Club Deportivo Magec Tías once again writes a golden page in its sporting history. This time it was the women's pre-youth team who reached glory by crowning themselves champions of the Canary Islands, culminating an exceptional championship that was held this weekend in La Matanza de Acentejo (Tenerife).

With a trajectory marked by effort and discipline, the young players of Magec Tías, led by Jesús García and Coraima García, showed from the beginning a very high competitive level, positioning themselves from the first games as clear candidates for the title.

The club's expedition was made up of the players Carlota Armas Umpiérrez, Paula Blanco Castiñeira, Chloe Curbelo Bonilla, Maya Gal, Ainhoa García Soler, Isabel González Mesa, Krishi Hathiramani Daryanani, Estela Hernández González, Yara Martín García, Maya Leigh Mortimer, Daniela Pérez Corujo and Julieta Rodríguez Pérez, in addition to their two coaches.

The debut was not easy: the team had to face an intense match against CB Islas Canarias, one of the most demanding rivals in the tournament, which they managed to overcome by a tight 66 to 63. This initial victory marked a turning point for the red and blacks, who faced the following matches with confidence, but without losing caution.

In the regular phase of Group A, Magec Tías beat CB Nuryana by another tight result, 39 to 41, and Canterbury School by a solid 54 to 31, securing the first position in their group. This classification allowed them to cross in the quarterfinals with the first of Group C, Gran Canaria, which they defeated with a score of 69 to 53.

The semifinal was a reunion with CB Nuryana, who was looking for revenge. However, the players led by Jesús and Coraima repeated the victory, this time by 52 to 47, thus accessing the grand final of the regional championship.

The Municipal Pavilion of La Victoria de Acentejo was the scene of the grand final between Magec Tías and Náutico de Tenerife ULL. The match, very disputed in all its phases, reflected the high level of women's grassroots basketball in the Canary Islands. The Lanzarote team, firm and concentrated, always took the initiative on the scoreboard and ended up winning by 54 to 48, proclaiming themselves Champions of the Canary Islands.

This title has a special value for the club, which had not won a regional championship for eight years. The last time was in the 2016/2017 season, when the first women's team won the title in Tenerife, qualifying for the promotion phase to Liga Femenina 2.

The triumph of the women's pre-youth team adds to other memorable conquests in the history of the club: the runner-up of Spain for the women's children in 1987, the regional title of the women's minibasket in 1990, the championship of the women's senior in 2005, the promotion of the men's senior to Liga EBA in 2009, and the aforementioned achievement of the women's team in 2017.

The return to Lanzarote was a real celebration. At the César Manrique Lanzarote Airport, family, friends, supporters and representatives of the club enthusiastically awaited the champions. The expedition was received with applause, banners and overflowing emotion. The board of directors of CD Magec Tías was present, as well as the mayor of the municipality of Tías, José Juan Cruz, who expressed his pride in this new sporting milestone for the municipality and the island.
